Mel Tucker continued his recruiting hot streak today, landing another three-start defensive back from Venice, Florida.
Steffan Johnson, a three-star rated cornerback prospect announced his commitment to Michigan State Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.

Johnson is a high school teammate of fellow 2021 cornerback commit Charles Brantley. Both of them will bring their talents from Venice Beach, Florida to East Lansing.
A former Rutgers commit, Johnson also had offers from Virginia, Marshall, USF, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina and others.
Johnson checks in at 6-foot-even, 160 pounds and is rated as the 135th best corner prospect in the country according to 247Sports.com’s rankings.
The 2021 class now stands at 19 players, with Johnson being the third pickup already for the week. Michigan State also landed its first commitment of the 2022 class in offensive lineman Kristian Phillips as well.
