Another top 15 win bears more Big Ten Player of the Week honors for our Spartans.

After a 3-of-4 kicking day that including burying a 48-yard field goal to take the lead with 3:35 left, Matt Coghlin earned Big Ten Special Teams Co-Player of the Week honors. This marks the third time in Coghlin’s career that he has earned Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors (2017 vs. Penn State, 2018 vs. Indiana).

On the defensive side, to no surprise, Antjuan Simmons took home Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after his 13 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack performance. This is Simmons’ first time earning the Defensive Player of the Week honor. The last Michigan State player to win the award was Joe Bachie on Sept. 23, 2019, after his performance against Northwestern.

If it were up to us he would be splitting those accolades with Shakur Brown for his two interceptions, but hey, can’t get everything you want in life, right?

This is the second week MSU players have earned Big Ten honors, going back to Ricky White’s Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after his ~836 yard performance against Michigan.
