It’s the official song bird of basketball season approaching — the first AP Poll.

Your Michigan State Spartans will be entering the season as the No. 13-ranked team in the preseason AP Poll. That makes the Spartans one of seven Big Ten teams entering the season in the top-25.

Iowa heads up the conference as the No. 5 team, and Wisconsin trails closely behind with a No. 7 ranking, as does Illinois (No. 8). Behind the Spartans in the rankings is Ohio State at No. 23, Rutgers at No. 24 and Michigan at No. 25. Indiana also received votes to give them a participation trophy heading into the season.

The top-three nationally stacks up as this, in order: Gonzaga, Baylor and Villanova.

MSU already has dates set to face No. 4 Virginia and No. 9 Duke this season.
