The Michigan State Spartan women welcome the Central Michigan Chippewas to the Breslin Center today at 5 p.m. EST. The game will air on BTN+. This is the start of a three-game home stretch to wrap up the non-conference season. It also marks just the second time since CMU alum (class of ‘91) and current MSU head coach Suzy Merchant will face her alma mater. The other was a narrow 88-87 win in the NCAA tournament in 2019.

The Spartans are rolling as they sit at 4-0 on the season for the fifth time in the last six seasons. If MSU wins against CMU, they will move to 5-0 for the first time since the 2012-13 season when MSU went 8-0 to begin that year.
CMU is 3-1 right now, and 2-0 in the MAC, after three-straight wins over Western Michigan, Cincinnati, and Miami of Ohio. All three wins for the the Chippewas came in Mount Pleasant.
Central Michigan has four players averaging double-figures. Micaela Kelly is scoring 22.3 points per game, while Molly Davis is second in scoring with 20.3 points and fourth in rebounding with per game. Kyra Bussell (12.0 ppg) and Maddy Watters (11.3 ppg) round out the double-digit scorers. Bussell leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards per game.
Additionally, MSU assistant coach Kristin Haynie was an assistant coach at CMU from 2014-2017.
