The Michigan State Spartans look to get back on the winning track tonight with a road matchup against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The game is set for an 8:30 p.m. EST tip-off time and will be broadcast on FS1.
Michigan State has lost four of its last five games overall and currently stands at 17-9 overall with a 9-6 conference record. While things have been rough for MSU as of late, things have been really tough for Nebraska and first year head coach Fred Hoiberg all season long. The Cornhuskers come in with a record of just 7-18 on the season, including an abysmal Big Ten mark at 2-12.
All road games are tough in the Big Ten, but this an opportunity for the Spartans to get a relatively stress-free win away from the Breslin Center. Nebraska has lost 10 games in a row and MSU is 17-7 all-time (well at least since 1949-1950) against the Cornhuskers.
Nebraska is led by senior guard Haanif Cheatham and sophomore guard Cam Mack, who each average 12.4 points per game. Mack also leads the team in assists with 6.6 per contest. Dachon Burke Jr., Thorir Thorbjarnarson and Jervay Green also contribute on the offensive end. Yvan Ouedraogo leads the team with six rebounds per contest.
Tonight’s contest also brings in an interesting dynamic of father-versus-son as Hoiberg’s son, Jack, is of course a Spartan.
