The Michigan State Spartans have returned to the Sweet Sixteen! Or, at least they have in our minds.

The second round of SB Nation’s FanPulse NCAA Tournament closed with the Spartans earning another dominant victory, this time topping Auburn with 66 percent of the vote.

Let’s be honest, whether it’s real life or a fan vote, there was no way the Spartans weren’t reaching the second weekend. It’s pretty much a guarantee. Auburn was just stuck on the tracks with the train running at full steam.

MSU is one of three Big Ten teams to reach the third round, joined by Maryland and Wisconsin. Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and Penn State all fell off... hate to see it.

Spartans face Creighton Bluejays in Sweet Sixteen

For the second round in a row, MSU avoids a conference rematch after Creighton beat Illinois by a similar margin to Michigan State’s. This is a matchup that Spartans fans would love in real life. A relatively untested Creighton team playing against an MSU team that is rolling.

However, to make sure Sparty can make his way back to the Elite Eight sidelines, we need MSU fans in full force.

Voting has opened for the Sweet Sixteen and will remain open until Friday night at 11pm. If you’re already signed up for FanPulse, make sure to check your email and get your vote in. If you’ve yet to sign up, register here and you’ll be immediately taken to Sweet Sixteen voting.

Listen, we all need this. And you already know we will be hanging a banner if we can handle our business.
