Gabe Nealy started his afternoon with a virtual tour of MSU’s football program.
The three-star product ended it with a commitment to Mel Tucker and the 2021 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-4 defensive back picked the Spartans over offers from a strong list of schools that include Kentucky, Minnesota, Louisville, Cincinnati, Nebraska and (most notably) hometown program Miami.

The commitment makes Nealy the first defensive commit (and first out -of-state commit) of the Mel Tucker era, joining running back Davion Primm and offensive tackle Ethan Boyd in the 2021 class.
Per 247Sports composite rankings, Nealy comes in as the No. 67-ranked safety in the class and No. 959 overall out of the talent-rich state of Florida.
That makes it three commits on the week for Tucker’s staff that, obviously, isn’t even able to host recruits. Not too shabby for the first year head coach.
