Michigan State Women’s Basketball: Game At Illinois Postponed

MSU Athletic Communications

Shortly after the announcement came out that the Michigan State men’s basketball team’s game at Iowa tomorrow is being postponed, news broke that the MSU women’s game at Illinois tomorrow will also be postponed.

This marks the second Big Ten game the Spartan women have seen postponed as the Ohio State Buckeyes game scheduled for Dec. 31 in Columbus was as well due to COVID-19 issues amongst OSU. There is no official word yet on the issues among MSU’s program beyond that it has caused the game to be delayed.

The 8-2 (3-2 in Big Ten play) Spartans are next scheduled to take on arch-rival Michigan in Ann Arbor on Monday, Jan. 18.

The MSU Athletic Department issued the following statement on the postponement:

Michigan State’s women’s basketball game at Illinois on Jan. 14 has been postponed following COVID-19 related issues within the Spartan program. No decision has been made on games beyond Jan. 14. Both schools will work with the Big Ten Conference office to identify potential rescheduling options later this season.
