Another week, another game postponed.
Michigan State men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo speaking to the media:

Izzo says he called the press conference himself.
Michigan State and Illinois will postpone its game on Saturday, as MSU has had three more positive cases.
During a Zoom call with the media, Tom Izzo announced this Saturday’s game between Michigan State and Illinois would be postponed as well. This makes it three straight games the Spartans had to put on hold due to a COVID outbreak, also postponing the Iowa and Indiana games from the previous week.
Last week it was announced that Mady Sissoko and Steven Izzo tested positive with Josh Langford also testing positive shortly after. Izzo said on Monday that three more members — freshman walk-on guard Davis Smith and two staff members (non-coaches from what we can tell)— have also tested positive to bring the total up to six.
As we know, MSU sits at 8-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play. While these games all get the “postponed” label, it’s fair to think if these games will ever get rescheduled. All three of MSU, Illinois and Indiana have a week break between games to start March, so that would be the best bet.
The most important thing is the health and safety of all players and staff members involved.
