Add another Michigan State Spartan to the transfer portal. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Javez Alexander is reportedly the latest Spartan to do so, according to 247Sports’ Stephen Brooks. This now makes 15 players from Michigan State’s 2020 roster who have entered their name into the portal.

Alexander did not see game action in 2020. He played in one game against Western Michigan in 2019, which was his only appearance as a Spartan, after redshirting as a true freshman in 2018. Alexander didn’t record any statistics.
Alexander originally signed with Michigan State as a three-star recruit in Mark Dantonio’s 2018 class, and was an early enrollee. As a quarterback in high school, Alexander ranked as the No. 33 dual-threat quarterback and No. 53 overall player in Ohio, according the 247Sports Composite.
While Michigan State has seemingly lost a lot of players to the portal (do note, however, that just because a player enters their name into the portal, does not mean that athlete is automatically leaving MSU), the Spartans have also added five players via the transfer portal: Kenneth Walker III (running back, Wake Forest), Harold Joiner (running back, Auburn), Jarret Horst (offensive line, Arkansas State), Drew Jordan (defensive end, Duke) and Anthony Russo (quarterback, Temple).
