In yesterday’s media remarks ahead of the Michigan State Spartans’ game against the Indiana Hoosiers, head coach Tom Izzo had some unfortunate news regarding the point guard position. Junior point guard Foster Loyer will be out for at least a week following a shoulder injury, with fellow guard Rocket Watts being described as “close to 100 percent” as well. Watts left the Iowa game at halftime feeling ill before giving the Spartans just 12 minutes against Purdue.
On the exact timeline regarding Loyer, Izzo offered the following:
What does the week mean? Does it mean next Thursday he could possibly play? Does it mean it won’t be until the weekend, or would it be after the four games? That I don’t know yet, but I know it won’t be this weekend or Tuesday, for sure.
Loyer injured his shoulder early in January, but it got significantly worse against Penn State. Then after wearing a brace for the last two games, he played just two minutes against Purdue. Almost right away he had to shed a cross screen and immediately lost the ability to use his left arm to any real effect, according to Izzo.
You can find the full remarks from Coach Izzo, Aaron Henry, and Julius Marble below. The Spartans tip off in Bloomington against the Hoosiers tomorrow at noon.
