The Michigan State Spartans basketball team had a very inconsistent season during the 2020-2021 campaign. There were incredible highs, and some very extreme low points throughout the season. The Spartans clawed their way into the First Four round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament — Tom Izzo’s 23rd consecutive appearance in the Big Dance — but had an early exit, as eventual Final Four participant UCLA beat Michigan State in overtime of the play-in game.
With the season now over, Michigan State has already seen a lot of turnover on its roster, with a few players transferring out of the program, Aaron Henry declaring for the NBA Draft, Joshua Langford also moving on, and with former Northeastern point guard Tyson Walker joining the Spartans for the 2021-2022 campaign. With an open scholarship spot, expect MSU to add one more player to the roster as well, either via transfer portal or with Emoni Bates deciding to reclassify.
Before we get to the 2021-2022 season, however, we are reviewing the individual performances of each Spartan during the 2020-2021 season. The Only Colors’ Moritz Wollert (“Flaming Mo”) is assigning report card grades and analysis for the regular contributors on last season’s team. Use this storystream to track each report card article.
