The Michigan State basketball walk-on class looks to be getting even stronger, with Orchard Lake St. Mary’s big man Peter Nwoke announcing his commitment to the program Friday afternoon.

According to the D Zone, Nwoke had offers from Oakland and Mississippi Valley State. The 6-foot-8 forward will join Keon Coleman and Maliq Carr as walk-ons entering the program this year, along with Steven Izzo and Davis Smith.
Originally from Nigeria, Nwoke has spent his high school playing days at star-powered Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. The Eaglets have produced top level talent over the last few years, including Wisconsin guard Lorne Bowman II and Northwestern commit Julian Roper.
With a ton of talent, Nwoke didn’t produce eye-popping numbers, but he was a consistent piece on a strong St. Mary’s team. Nwoke and the Eaglets made it to the Division 1 quarterfinals in the MHSAA state tournament this season, eventually losing to Grand Blanc in what would be their only loss of the season.
Nwoke can provide strong size in practice and could see game action at the three, four or five spots should the need arise. The Spartans still have two open scholarships for the 2021-2022 season.
