Michigan State Volleyball announces fall 2021 Big Ten Conference schedule

The Michigan State Spartans volleyball team announced its fall 2021 Big Ten Conference schedule on Friday.

Due to the pandemic, the Spartans’ fall season was postponed. Instead, the team played in the winter and spring, finishing with a disappointing 3-12 record overall.

While non-conference matchups, tournaments or invitationals have not yet been announced, MSU’s 2021 Big Ten Conference slate this fall, which includes 20 matches, looks like this:

  • Sept. 24, at Indiana
  • Sept. 26, at Michigan
  • Oct. 1, at Iowa
  • Oct. 3, at Nebraska
  • Oct. 8, versus Ohio State
  • Oct. 9, versus Minnesota
  • Oct. 15, versus Wisconsin
  • Oct. 16, versus Maryland
  • Oct. 20, at Purdue
  • Oct. 23, at Maryland
  • Oct. 29, versus Iowa
  • Oct. 31, at Ohio State
  • Nov. 5, at Rutgers
  • Nov. 6, at Penn State
  • Nov. 12, versus Rutgers
  • Nov. 13, versus Penn State
  • Nov. 19, at Wisconsin
  • Nov. 21, versus Michigan
  • Nov. 26, versus Illinois
  • Nov. 27, versus Northwestern

The Spartans’ first four matches are on the road, followed by a four-match homestand. MSU has back-to-back matchups scheduled on several different occasions: Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 (at home versus Wisconsin and Maryland), Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 (away against Rutgers and Penn State), Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 (home versus Rutgers and Penn State) and to close out the regular season on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 (home versus Illinois and Northwestern).

The volleyball team faces Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin (defending Big Ten Champions), Maryland, Rutgers and Penn State twice. Meanwhile, the Spartans see Indiana, Nebraska, Minnesota, Purdue Illinois and Northwestern just once this coming season.
