The recruiting momentum for the 2022 class is still rolling strong for the Green and White.

The latest addition to Mel Tucker’s second Michigan State recruiting class hails from Tennessee, as three-star athlete Shannon Blair announced his decision to head to East Lansing. Blair is the first player in MSU’s 2022 group from the state of Tennessee.

Blair plays cornerback and wide receiver, along with kick/punt returner, for Knoxville West — a school that went 11-2 last fall — and he is expected to play cornerback/defensive back for the Spartans.

The class — now with 11 commits in total (so far) — has Malik Spencer committed as a safety, and Quavian Carter who is listed as a safety in many recruiting rankings, but is expected to play linebacker for MSU.

The class also includes two potential wide receivers in Jaron Glover and Roseville product Tyrell Henry. Henry is the only other player in Michigan State’s class listed as an “athlete,” but he expects to play on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver.

Blair, listed at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, is tabbed as the No. 72-ranked athlete in the class and No. 32-ranked overall prospect in the state of Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite. He held offers from Memphis, Purdue, Duke, Virginia, Wake Forest and Appalachian State, amongst others.
