Graduate student and defensive end Drew Beesley will be attending his first Big Ten Football Media Days. Beesley is a three-year letter winner for the Spartans and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten by both the coaches and media in 2020. He started in seven games while leading the defensive line in snaps at 399. As a redshirt senior last season, Beesley had a career high 27 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss, good for second best on the team (Antjuan Simmons recorded nine tackles for loss). Beesley also posted a career best three sacks.
Also attending his first Media Days event will be senior safety Xavier Henderson. Henderson is a three-year letterwinner for the Spartans as well, posting 20 consecutive starts in 33 career games. Henderson ranked third in tackles for Michigan State last season, totaling 41 tackles (24 solo and 17 assists). He started all seven games last season and led the team in snaps with 511 played.
Redshirt junior wide receiver Jalen Nailor, also a first time attendee, rounds out the MSU players participating this year. Nailor led the Big Ten and ranked 14th in the FBS last season in yards per reception (19.8 yards per catch), while leading the Spartans in receiving yards (515) and receiving touchdowns (four). Nailor had four catches of 50-plus yards last season, including the team’s three longest plays overall. Nailor was named a third-team All-Big Ten offensive selection for 2020 by Phil Steele as well.
The Spartans will make their appearances in front of the media on Friday, July 23 along with head coach Mel Tucker. Tucker will take to the microphone from 11:15-11:30 a.m. Eastern time on the Big Ten Network, and the players will speak later in the day at 3:15 p.m.
