If you needed any more indication Michigan State did well in the transfer portal, here you go.
Offensive tackle and Arkansas State transfer Jarrett Horst got himself on the Outland Trophy Watch List, which goes to the best interior lineman (offense or defense). He’s the second Spartan to land on a preseason watch list, joining Wake Forest running back transfer Kenneth Walker and his appearance on the Doak Walker Award Watch List.

This is the second season in a row Horst has been named to the Outland Trophy Watch List.
After playing his true freshman season at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa in 2018, Horst started 20 games for Arkansas State in 2019 and 2020. He was named to the All-Sun Belt third-team in 2019 as a sophomore, and was also named as a preseason All-Sun Belt first-team selection in 2020 as a junior.
The last Spartan to be placed on the Outland Trophy Watch List was Raequan Williams in 2019. The last offensive lineman in the Green and White to reach this preseason list was David Beedle back in 2018.
The last Michigan State player to win the Outland Trophy was Ed Bagdon back in the 1949 season. So, at the very least, MSU could be due to have a winner.
