Michigan State has added a 13th verbal commitment to its 2022 recruiting class, as three-star cornerback Ade Willie announced his decision on Monday to join Mel Tucker and the Spartans.

At the high school level, Willie plays for Bradenton, Florida powerhouse IMG Academy. Willie is listed a 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. He is the second recruit out of the state of Florida to commit to Michigan State, joining three-star wide receiver Jaron Glover (Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida).

Willie is considered a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals. He is listed as the No. 92 cornerback and No. 129 prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports’ individual rankings.

In addition to Michigan State, Willie had scholarship offers from Colorado, Arizona, Boston College, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Virginia, Buffalo, Ohio, Florida International, Western Kentucky and SMU.

The Spartans offered Willie in March. He took his official visit to East Lansing on the weekend of June 25, after also taking official visits to Colorado and Arizona.

As mentioned, Michigan State’s 2022 recruiting class currently stands at 13 members. Willie is the third defensive back in the group, along with Malik Spencer (Georgia) and Shannon Blair (Tennessee). Quavian Carter (Georgia) is listed as a safety by most recruiting services, but is expected to play linebacker for the Spartans.

Willie is MSU’s eighth commitment since the extended dead period on in-person recruiting was lifted on June 1. The recruiting dead period is currently back in place through July 24.
