The Michigan State Spartans open up the home slate of the team’s 2021 season today at noon against the Youngstown State Penguins. The game is just the third all-time meeting between the two teams.
On the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, fans make the return to Spartan Stadium for a game for the first time in 651 days. A number of changes await fans who will have to follow an indoor mask policy; will finally see in person Mel Tucker as head coach along the sideline; will find a return of Melting Moments ice cream sandwiches; will be listening to a new entry song playing while the team takes the field for the first time since 1999; and will also find reduced capacity after field level club seating was expanded.
The important thing, though, is Spartan football is back in East Lansing!
