Following a 21-point upset victory on the road against the No. 24-ranked Miami (FL) Hurricanes, and a 3-0 start to the 2021 season, the Michigan State Spartans have cracked the top-25 rankings for the first time this season in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. MSU checks in at No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

The Spartans received votes each of the past two weeks, but did not make it into the top-25 rankings until this week. The Spartans are 3-0 for the first time since 2015, and this marks the first time Michigan State has been ranked since Sept. 29, 2019, when MSU was No. 23 in the Coaches Poll and No. 25 in the AP Poll.

Full AP and Coaches polls results are below.

AP Poll

Unsurprisingly, Miami (FL) dropped out of the poll this week after Michigan State dominated the Hurricanes. Virginia Tech (No. 15 last week) and Arizona State (No. 19 last week) also dropped out. This week’s AP Poll features six Big Ten teams, including three in the top-10, with one more (Maryland) receiving votes. Big Ten teams in bold.
