We got a few things popping up in the news feed over the last few days. Let’s dive right in.
Mark Dantonio to the Hall of Fame?
It was announced on Monday that former football head coach Mark Dantonio was named as a finalist for the college football Hall of Fame. This is Dantonio’s first year of eligibility following his retirement after the 2019 season. Inductees will be announced in January, and the induction would be the following December. If he gets voted in, he would be the fourth MSU coach to be enshrined, with the others being Charles Bachman, Duffy Daugherty and Biggie Munn. I personally think he will earn the votes easily. Multiple B1G championships, a Rose Bowl victory, a playoff berth, multiple QBs to the NFL amongst many other players, Little Giants and the ensuing heart attack, “It’s never over. It’s just getting started.” Thank you for the memories, Coach.
Some of the other coaches on this year’s ballot are Larry Coker, Tommy Tuberville, and another former MSU head coach, Darryl Rogers. Former Spartan OT Flozell Adams is also on the ballot.
Transfer Portal Updates
Michigan State picked up a player from the portal today in former Iowa CB Terry Roberts. Roberts is a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining. He has a couple of interceptions over his four years playing for the Hawkeyes, a career where he saw action in 33 games including four starts. We will see if he can carve out a bigger role in his one year in East Lansing.
Speaking of CBs, another Colorado player has entered the portal. Kaylin Moore announced his availability today after two years in Boulder. He never played under Coach Tucker, but that doesn’t mean the pipeline can’t still be open if we are looking for competition in the defensive backfield.
Survey Time
This question is inspired by commenter Withshieldoronit, who said he would cheer for um (by the way Withshieldoronit, thank you for spelling it in all lower case the way I do) if they were playing the Russians. So let’s see how everyone feels about this hypothetical situation.
